B2B payments is one of the key growth bets for American Express. In support of this, the Merchant Services – U.S. (MS – U.S.) team’s charter to be warmly accepted and help merchants grow. The B2B Development team within Merchant Services – U.S. (MS – U.S.), is focused on unlocking new spend opportunities and increasing volume with existing accepting B2B merchants.

The Sr. Manager, New B2B Products is part of the Merchant Services B2B Development Team. The Sr. Manager is responsible for identifying and delivering new B2B products to merchants and grow charge volume and expand and open acceptance of American Express products with existing and prospect B2B merchants/suppliers.   The Sr. Manager will specifically focus on: 
  • Identifying products gaps based on customer needs, experience and competitive offerings
  • Defining an end-to-end product experience that engages our merchants and differentiates American Express in the B2B payments landscape
  • Successfully launch new B2B products/capabilities/features in the marketplace 
The Sr. Manager will play an instrumental role in advancing the mission of American Express acceptance and growth targets by: 
  • Defining new product features, scope, and functionality
  • Working collaboratively across key client management, technologies, marketing, issuers, sales & acquisition, legal and product teams to bring product concept to life
  • Conducting cost-benefit analysis to prioritize investments
  • Launching and managing the product upon release to merchants
  • Obtaining feedback on the product to iterate and drive improvements in future releases
  • Defining the product roadmap and prioritize feature set
  • Passion for great products and services and the ability to articulate product functionality
  • Prior experience launching new products and program management
  • Ability to build relationships and influence across levels
  • Knowledge of B2B business and experience managing and working with clients/partners in this space
  • Understanding and hands – on experience of American Express tech and product development processes, known as a business person who can speak both tech and business languages
  • Curiosity and hunger to know how things work and ability to use that knowledge to make connections and find opportunities
  • Detailed oriented, able to identify key questions, make product decisions and determine how pieces of the puzzle interact and impact the overall project
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to engage, influence and inspire partners to drive collaboration and alignment
