About Your Job:

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a world class duty free team. As Senior Manager Space Management you will be responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of space planning that includes documentation of planograms to support QDF recommended varieties. Space management is a collaborative role with Category Analysts, Merchandising and Store Planning to ensure planograms are “retail-ready” upon publication. You will manage the design of layouts to maximize retail store space, sales, profit and shopping convenience.

Key accountabilities:

  • Analyze historical data to ensure maximum profitability of store space.

  • Develop and implement a strategic space management plan, which creates a luxury shopping experience for our customers and targets annual revenue growth in order to meet long-term financial projections.

  • Identify and maximize all revenue opportunities by enhancing the retail offering to optimize performance.

  • Maintain awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understand upcoming customer initiatives and monitor competitors.

  • Design and create planograms that reflect and optimize customer purchasing behaviours at the shelves and evaluate space planning modules to determine physical space efficiency and drive sales and profit.

  • Establish space planning as a centralized, commercial function that controls and manages flow space and shelf space across the store portfolio by analyzing and evaluating space at every hierarchy, from influencing the overall size of a store, all the way down to deciding the space allocation of a single product. 

  • Develop, document, uphold and communicate visual merchandising best practices.

  • Follow fundamental retail strategies, challenge traditional methods and leverage the field and retailers for feedback.

  • Lead the development of new reporting and analytics, leveraging space planning to improve efficiency of the space planners.

  • Design KPI’s to hold the team accountable for improvements.

  • Promote retail space as an important commodity and the key lever for driving profitable growth.

  • Develop and maintain store clusters using store volume, profile, capacity, seasonality and performance to create model stock for each category.

  • Manage space walks for validation and update of occupancy metrics.

  • Keeping up to date with emerging trends and insights with regards to workplace strategy, design and best practices.

  •  Gather programming information related to space requirements, adjacency, or move requirements.

  •  Work with business units to create long-term and tactical plans for growth, consolidation, and all  space management services, through layout development and planogram production.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with minimum 10 years of relevant experience. You should have experience in developing migrant plans and space strategies utilizing blocking and stacking diagram. You should have strong knowledge of inventory optimization to reduce cost & increase profitability through effective space management strategies.

Focus on increasing revenue per sq. ft. through effective management and analysis of the best utilization of shelves, floor space and positioning of the product. You will reduce/minimize out of stock situations and avoid over stock situations to optimize space to sales ratio. You should have excellent communication skills with the ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. You should have strong mentoring and coaching skills with the ability to train and foster teamwork among team members.
