York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has an ambitious programme of service modernisation and a reputation for providing high quality services. In line with our outlook, we are now inviting applications for this post, at York Teaching Hospital, based at York.

A vacancy has arisen to commence as soon as possible – 31 July 2019 for a Trust Grade Doctor (ST3+ equivalent) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. 

This is a service post, however, good training and teaching facilities are available within the departments and in the Postgraduate Medical Centre based at the Hospital. There will be a study leave allowance for each postholder.  The need for the successful candidate to attend clinical and generic skills training will be dependent on the individuals’ needs.

 Candidates must have MBBS or equivalent medical qualification and successful completion of part 1 MRCOG at time of application Candidates must be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current license to practice. Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/ Good Medical Practice.

The ability to practice independently under consultant supervision and supervise and teach junior medical staff is essential.

The successful candidate will participate in a full-shift rota.

There are regular teachings within the department for all doctors in training and the department also teaches Medical Students from the Hull/York Medical School.

Postholders have an educational supervisor and study leave is supported.

This post is not recognised for training but successful applicants will receive equivalent training opportunities to those in recognised training posts.

 Please note; the acquisition of Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust was completed in July 2012. Candidates must be aware of the organisation's expectation, (where it is a requirement of the service) for them to be prepared to work across any of the Hospital sites managed by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Hospital sites include, York, Scarborough, Malton, Bridlington and Whitby.

DBS Checks

Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking. If you are successful you will be asked to confirm if you wish to pay in one amount or in instalments. The charges are currently £30.20 for a standard check and £48.20 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for.
