Client Operations is responsible for end to end on-boarding and the on-going management and oversight of related due diligence & maintenance activities through the full client lifecycle with HSBC on behalf of Global Banking & Markets both as a customer group and product provider. It takes full account of costs, customer service, control & regulatory requirements to oversee delivery of high quality due-diligence, client service & process excellence across each onboarding function (Credit due-diligence, KYC & Client Identification due-diligence, and Client Data) delivering an integrated global service to the business.


A team of client onboarding & client management specialists will operate as a globally aligned function managed out of the regional hubs (London, Hong Kong, New York) with team members employed locally to provide GBM with a single framework, governance & accountability for client onboarding & life-cycle management of related due diligence & maintenance activities.


We are now inviting qualified individuals to join the team in this specific role.


Principal responsibilities


  • Work closely with Coverage Relationship Managers through the stages of the client due diligence process to determine the requirements and ensure that all input requirements are obtained to allow client selection and the on-boarding to proceed smoothly and rapidly.
  • Work closely with their compatriots in other countries to manage and coordinate client due diligence across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ensure that all other parties in the client due diligence process receive quality information and are able to execute the decision and process tasks promptly without flow-back.
  • Perform the facilitation role effectively promptly responding to queries, being able to explain the reason for specific requirements, and attending to hold-ups and escalations promptly, and providing regular status communication.
  • Be accountable for ensuring that all steps in the on-boarding process are completed, the time it takes to complete on-boarding over and above agreed SLAs, and ensuring that all clients on-boarded are acceptable risks to the Bank.
  • Continue reviewing & updating client information ensuring that the Bank has up-to-date awareness of changes to the client’s circumstances, which helps protect the Bank from emerging reputational risk and financial crime risk.




  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or related field
  • Solid and proven relevant work experience within Banking and Financial Services industry is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of the regulatory requirements
  • Resourceful, energetic, attention to detail, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a team-oriented environment
