Citi has made it a priority to foster a culture where the best people want to work, where individuals are promoted based on merit, where we value and demand respect for others and where opportunities to develop are widely available to all. We’re looking for a Relationship Associate-Transaction Settlements Business to join our world-class team The Transaction Settlements Business (TSB) and Citi’s Public Funds Division (PF) are significant contributors within CCB. TSB/PF is comprised of 10 dedicated, highly seasoned Relationship Managers across the US.  The vast majority of our Bankers have over 20 years each of Commercial Banking experience, mostly working with high transaction, high deposit-level Private and Publicly Traded Companies, as well as Government Organizations.  TSB/PF clients are high touch, with large operating deposit balances and heavy users of CCB’s Treasury products and services. TSB generally does not extend hard credit with two exceptions:  TSB lends to three widely held public companies, and it issues cash secured Standby Letters of Credit to many of its clients.  TSB also routinely offers soft credit to its clients such as ACH Lines of Credit and Federal Funds Lines of Credit.  Commercial Bankers work closely with partners in Independent Risk to conduct in-depth financial analysis in order to evaluate credit risk associated with extensions of capital by evaluating clients’ credit needs.  Commercial Bankers are also held accountable for maintaining an appropriate balance between Citi revenues and risk associated with extending capital.   PF does not extend any hard credit; however, PF regularly extends soft credit to its clients such as ACH Lines of Credit and Federal Funds Lines of Credit. TSB embodies Citi’s unique purpose as the bank of choice for high risk industries such as Title, Investment Management, Commercial Real Estate, Property Management, Trust Banks and Mortgage Servicing.  PF also embodies Citi’s unique purpose as the bank of choice for local governments, counties, cities, towns, villages, public universities, park districts, libraries and water districts.  Our clients see us as trusted thought partners that bring simplicity in an increasingly complex world as CCB provides client-centric solutions for long term growth.   The US CCB targets clients with revenues between $5M – $3B and support a range of financial solutions: a myriad of deposit products, treasury solutions, cash management and foreign exchange (FX).  The business has a dedicated FX desk that trades in over 100 currencies. CitiBusiness Online, Citibank's state of the art award winning web-based banking platform, supports a full range of transaction and reporting capabilities in a secure environment.   The Relationship Associate (RA) is a critical role that provides support to our Relationship Managers and enhances the client experience.  The RA supports the needs of the Banker by managing the multiple touch points required to execute for CCB Clients.  The RA is viewed by CCB clients as point person to open new accounts, prepare compliance updates (e.g. Know Your Customer, KYC, and Anti Money Laundering, AML), routine credit queries, and problem escalation.  They are subject matter experts in navigating the internal workings of Citi’s operations.   On a daily basis, a Relationship Associate-TSB will be responsible for the following 
  • Working with RMs and product partners to on-board new clients/new subsidiaries and KYC/initial credit set-ups completed
  • Working with CCB partners in Costa Rica to ensure that all KYC documentation is up to date
  • Maintaining correct client legal and marketing hierarchies (GFCID’s)
  • Help in implementation of cash transactions for Banker
  • The operational effectiveness of the client relationship across multiple products by helping clients to access Citi’s network
  • Engaging with product partners and Citi’s global network to identify revenue opportunities and to position certain products (e.g. CCB &  Treasury Transaction Solutions, TTS products, FX, etc.) with clients
  • Ensuring periodic support discussions are held with clients and are correctly documented
  • Ensuring credit documentation is kept current: FX, derivatives, Loans, LCs and other credit-related documents
  • Timely completion of Credit Approval Documents (CAD’S) and other KYC requirements for parent names and subsidiaries, in partnership with product partners and RMs
  • Building trusted relationships with client network and operational teams, becoming a key contact for routine credit requests/problem escalation and resolution 
 A successful Relationship Associate-TSB has these skills
  • Effectively uses technical support systems (Salesforce, Citi KYC, etc.)
  • Viewed by bankers as point person for routine queries and problem escalation; identifies solutions to client issues
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of Citi’s core product range
  • Ensures assigned client portfolio is kept current with respect to due diligence and anti money laundering compliance (Citi KYC) requirements
  • Shares best practices, knowledge, innovation and problem-solving
  • Contributes to re-engineering efforts
  • Takes initiative but knows when to escalate ensuring bankers can focus on marketing efforts and revenue generation
  • Identifies solutions to client needs and plays a key role in driving customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrates a detailed understanding of clients’ current banking relationship, their business and their operations
  • Participates in annual review process for client portfolios
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of CCB credit policies and applies them effectively; seeks guidance from more experienced credit officers as needed
  • Understands the credit approval process and moves requests up the credit chain; acts as the primary interface for coordination and execution of routine credit requests and approvals



  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5-7 years’ experience working in a sales process role
  • Highly effective communication skills with ability to adapt communication style to effectively manage bankers, product partners and other Citi internal resources involved in client portfolios as well as clients
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Problem recognition and resolution skills
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude and flexible working style; consistently seen as the go-to person
