Position Summary:

Full Time and Part Time positions exist in the above unit for highly motivated and flexible registered nurses with appropriate knowledge and skills. The service currently manages Cardiothoracic surgical and Respiratory medical patients and includes a  4 bed Non Invasive ventilation Unit .The position is supported by a team environment as well as the opportunity to be autonomous. The ward offers a range of ongoing professional development opportunities including access to internal and external educational initiatives. Unit support is available through Nursing Unit Manager and Clinical Nurse Educator:

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
  • Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within the interdisciplinary team and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system. Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads with in a complex environment.
  • Acute hospital nursing experience and/or nursing experience in cardiothoracic surgery or respiratory medicine.
