Based Sofia, this is a role that manages and handles the finance functions of Bulgaria with compliance of Qatar Airways policies, internal accounting procedures and compliance of local laws.
In this role you will be responsible for the preparation of financial and strategic planning, monitoring variance against the budget, evaluating opportunities and risks and implementation of cost control.
As a leader, the role will assist staff members in providing value-added, insightful reporting and analysis for Senior Management. You will support the strategic planning, decision making, costing, project management, financial planning and analysis. You will also establish and recommend operating procedures; establish major schedules and task assignments within area of responsibility. You will also be involved in budgetary planning with a focus on cost effectiveness and control.
Specific accountabilities include:
Managing the Finance functions of Bulgaria
Understanding objectives of the company on revenue targets, cost per unit and timelines
Guiding financial decisions by monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures as well as implementing corrective actions
Analyzing monthly financial statements of stations, identifies the drivers of financial performance and process of potential solutions
Verifying/preparing payment analysis for all major expenses including DOC (Direct Operating Cost) and reporting any abnormal variances
Preparing and Controlling budget for the station and give monthly exception report through review of monthly cost centre and calendarised reports
Identifying reasons for variances and control cost by proper follow up with respective budget holder
Local compliance including Bulgarian taxes, statutory obligations and timely submission/settlements
Coordinating with tax consultants in preparation of financial statements, revenue statements for purpose of business/corporate/income or any other kind of tax amount calculation to comply with local regulations
Ensuring that receivables, payables transactions are accounted accurately on daily basis, receivables are timely collected and payables are timely paid with no penalties
Manage the purchasing of all items in efficient and cost effective manner with thorough review of Purchase orders, contracts
Evaluate the department or team objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and make appropriate changes if needed
Oversee and supervise employees.
To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor’s Degree preferably with ACCA/CA/CPA combined with job-related finance managerial experience.
Job Specific Skills:
User level experience in any ERP (oracle financials preferred)
Proficient with spread sheets, V-lookup, Hlookup, Pivots, ASAP utilities
Ideally strong aviation specific profile in either expenditure or revenue accounting
Should be able to analyse and explain financial accounts / Management accounts to finance and non-finance audiences
Knowledge on business contracts eg: Expert on local laws and regulations E VAT, tax, payroll taxes, social security, pension schemes, payroll, book keeping
Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow.
Fluency in English is essential for this role. Bulgarian language skills are highly desirable.
