The Behavioral Health Call Center RN monitors Emergency Department patient volumes and lengths of stay, coordinates clinical staff to address operational demands, provides nurse to nurse reports for admission to the inpatient unit, and assists with case management as needed to expedite timely discharge. The Call Center RN helps to ensure the consistent provision of quality care and supports performance improvement initiatives through departmental audits and data collection.
The Call Center RN collaborates with the WellStar Behavioral Health Unit (WBHU) multi-disciplinary treatment team to monitor daily admissions and discharges, and with the hospital clinicians to pull and review all incoming WBHU referrals. This individual responds to inquiries from the hospital system and surrounding community, engages callers in brief screening to clarify needs, and provides guidance and/or referral to behavioral health resources, as appropriate. The individual also responds to calls from individuals or families in behavioral health crisis (for example, those with suicidal ideation or attempt, active psychosis, acute intoxication, or acting out behavior) and must apply appropriate interventions (verbal de-escalation, guidance/referrals, initiating emergency response; conferencing the crisis line, etc.).
This individual may be called upon to perform comprehensive, tele-medicine based behavioral health assessments and crisis intervention with patients who are receiving services for various psychological, behavioral or substance related disturbances to implement and facilitate the appropriate level of service.
Required Minimum Education/License/Certification : Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing:
Current/active license as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia Preferred.
Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 3-5 years current experience with direct patient care in Inpatient Psychiatric unit preferred.
Required Minimum Certification :BLS
Required Minimum Skills :Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Exemplifies superior level of customer service. The Behavioral Health Call Center Clinician must possess good organizational & strong customer service skills; must demonstrate effective and appropriate verbal/written communication; must possess knowledge of effective crisis management techniques and a working knowledge of local resources; must demonstrate computer literacy.
