An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and suitably qualified Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician to work in the Mortuary Department based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The successful candidate will join a small team of experienced APTs in this HTA licensed, UKAS 15189:2012 accredited Mortuary. The Mortuary has a body store to accommodate 120 deceased, two viewing rooms, a large post mortem room and separate forensic/infectious post mortem suite. The Mortuary performs in excess of 650 routine and special post mortems per year. The successful applicant will be motivated, well organised, have a meticulous attention to detail and be highly skilled with the ability to multi-task effectively and accurately.

The successful applicant will be expected to co-ordinate the scientific and technical aspects of the hospital mortuary in conjunction with APT colleagues and perform all duties and functions within the mortuary under the direction of the Mortuary and Bereavement Office Manager.

An RSPH Diploma in Anatomical Pathology or equivalent, with previous experience in a busy mortuary is essential. However applications may be considered from less experienced candidates seeking the qualification (banding/salary would be subject to qualifications and experience).

Hours of duty will be Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 3:45pm. The post holder will be required to participate in an out of hour’s on-call service.
