John Hunter Hospital (JHH) Transition to Specialty Nursing Programs provide well supported and comprehensive experience in Intensive Care, Emergency, Cardiology, Renal & Acute Medicine. Applications are sought from Registered Nurses with a minimum of 12 month experience to join the 2020 JHH Transition to Specialty programs. Positions will start in February 2020.
ACUTE MEDICAL & REHAB PROGRAM
The JHH Acute Medical & Rehabilitation Transition Program offers full time temporary employment for 12 months. You will have the opportunity to expand and explore your professional practice through the provision of direct nursing care and supported rotation into three specialist clinical areas within the JHH. Strategies to facilitate this include mentoring, planned professional development days, supernumerary clinical days and attendance at informal and formal education events.
Rotations are 16 weeks duration through the Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and G3 Cardiology. Incorporated into the programme are structured study days, 2 weeks of speciality practice days and full day Advanced Life Support Assessment and competency. Positions are full time temporary for the 12 months and annual leave is rostered into the program
Rotations are 16 weeks duration through the Wansey Satellite Dialysis Unit, K1 Nephrology Ward & K1 Acute Dialysis Unit. Incorporated into the programme are structured Renal study days, dedicated mentors and supernummary clinical training days. Positions are full time temporary for the 12 months and annual leave is rostered into the programme.
INTENSIVE CARE PROGRAM
The Intensive Care Services program includes the completion of the NSW Transition to Practice: Intensive Care Nursing Program and clinical rotations through Calvary Mater Newcastle and John Hunter Hospital. You will be employed as Temporary part time 0.8FTE over the twelve month program.
EMERGENCY CARE PROGRAM
The Transition to Specialty Practice Emergency Nursing program is a twelve month program consisting of theoretical, practical and self-directed components. The program includes rotations across the acute network at The John Hunter Hospital ED, Calvary Mater Hospital ED, Belmont District Hospital ED and the Maitland Hospital ED. The program is divided into 5 modules including Orientation & Physical assessment, Paediatrics, Ambulatory Care, Special populations and Triage & Trauma. You will be employed as Temporary part time 0.8FTE over the twelve month program.
