The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Stomal Therapy) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will take responsibility for
Providing expert clinical service and advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals within the specialty of Stomal Therapy Services
Comprehensively assessing, developing, facilitating, implementing and evaluating complex plans of care within the scope of practice, at an advanced level for patients requiring Stomal Therapy care and support
Independently reviewing patients pre and post-operatively in nurse-led clinics to provide education on complex clinical issues to both patients and carers
Providing support in the assessment and monitoring of Stomal Therapy patients and providing education to patients with complex health care needs
Conducting regular client satisfaction audits, reviewing the service and working collaboratively with key stakeholders to continue to identify gaps and areas of improvement
Requirements for the role
A Bachelor of Nursing or Midwifery or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position
Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
A Masters qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable. Where the successful applicant does not currently hold a relevant post-graduate qualification, commitment to completion of post-graduate study within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance review process
A post-graduate qualification in the specialty area is highly desirable
Experience in senior nursing positions within a relevant specialty is highly desirable
It is a condition of employment in this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) and hepatitis B
This position requires effective computer skills or the ability to acquire computer skills relevant to the role in a short timeframe

Base salary ranging from $57.12 - $62.01 per hour
Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution

About the Stomal Therapy Service
The Stomal Therapy Service manages elective and emergency Colorectal, Gastro-intestinal, Urological and Gynaecological surgical patients. The service covers both Inpatients and Outpatients.
