About the role

The FLO actively contributes to the state-wide FLO network and works closely with the Program Co-Ordinator and Queensland Forensic Mental Health Service. The FLO assists the Hospital and Health service mental health service to develop capacity to confidentiality work with all high-risk consumers.

Additionally, the Forensic Liaison Officer works closely with Queensland Police Service (QPS) and assumes responsibility as a key conduit between QPS and the Forensic and Secure Services to provide both formal and informal training for police officers by way of information sessions, police desk top training and opportunities for other on job training at the Park, Centre for Mental Health.

About You

The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • High level ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and within the state-wide FLO network to utilise well developed clinical skills in the assessment treatment and care of consumers with mental health issues and or intellectual impairment on Forensic Orders, Treatment Support Orders or high risk and Classified status consumers.
  • High level understanding of Queensland Mental Health Act 2016 and the ability to provide advice on how to translate legislation, policies and standards into practice utilising excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High level proficiency in negotiation and consultation and the ability to communicate, consult, liaise and negotiate with a wide range of individuals and organisations including government and non-government organisations engaged in the service delivery of consumers who are or have been in contact with the criminal justice system. 

About the Forensic and Secure Services

 Forensic and Secure Services (FSS) provides specialist secure rehabilitation and forensic mental health services and host the only High Secure Inpatient Service in Queensland.

Services within FSS operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


Salary ranging from $113,261 - $122,964 per annum, 17.5% annual leave loading, 12.75 % employer contribution to superannuation. Other employment benefits may include: professional development, salary sacrificing options ( ), wellness programs and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
