The role 
Reporting to the Manager, Operational Management Team, you will lead the BreastScreen Queensland data service team to provide high quality, computer-based health related data and information services. You will also:

  • Analyse and document functional data and system requirements and technical specifications for the BreastScreen Queensland Register and participate in related testing
  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide high quality data collection and management advice and support
  • Oversee the operation of the BreastScreen Queensland State-wide coordinated reading model

The successful person
The successful candidate will be:

  • Experienced in managing the delivery of high quality data service delivery with practical working knowledge of health terminologies, health data standards and code sets
  • An effective negotiator and problem solver, with high level verbal and written communication skills
  • A credible data collection and management advisor, with proven practical abilities in specialised health application software products and associated ICT tools (such as SQL) to interrogate, query and modify data
  • A collaborative and capable team leader, able to motivate and develop staff to perform at a high level

This role is located within the Preventive Health Branch which has two key areas of responsibility – Cancer Screening and Health and Wellbeing. Staff develop strategy, policy, and programs related to population cancer screening, health promotion and chronic disease prevention. Staff also provide valuable public health epidemiology monitoring and reporting functions, as well as managing the security, confidentiality and accuracy of public health data and the maintenance of critical screening information systems.
