About the role:

The Principal Strategy and Planning Advisor facilitates the development and delivery of initiatives that aim to transform the organisation and enhance service delivery. As the Principal Strategy and Planning Advisor you will contribute to the continuous improvement of HSQ and its services by conducting research, analysis and reviews, consulting with stakeholders, coordinating strategic and operational planning, developing business cases and other formal submissions for senior decision makers, and managing projects. You will have the opportunity to work across the diverse directorates and businesses of HSQ in support of strategic and operational plan deliverables. The Principal Strategy and Planning Advisor in Corporate Governance and Strategy reports to the Manager of Strategic Initiatives and Planning.

What we are looking for:

  • Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, contemporary best practice health service delivery, the health system, public sector accountabilities, the drivers of reform, and the policy levers and environment of Queensland Health and the health system.

  • High-level research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated track record of using these skills to provide strategic advice to decision-makers.

  • Excellent written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to compile high-quality briefings and reports.

  • Demonstrated track record of coordinating planning activities and successfully managing projects within a large and complex organisation. 

  • Strong track record of building and sustaining positive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and effectively engaging, consulting and negotiating with stakeholders including senior management.
