About the role

This is a temporary full time position up to 3 months, working under the supervision of a clinician and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, plan, document, implement and evaluate a comprehensive recreational therapy program appropriate to consumer needs.

About You

You will be someone with the demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate innovative recreation programs suited to the needs and abilities of consumers with a serious mental illness and in keeping with the organisation's objectives. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with consumers and with other staff as well as the ability to work with minimal supervision for day to day activities and show initiative in the area of recreational activities within the Mental Health Service.

About Mental Health and Specialised Services Community and Acute Services

MHSS Community and Acute Services provide recovery orientated care through the provision of inpatient and community mental health services as well as alcohol and other drug services. This includes mental health assessment, earl intervention, treatment and continuing care. Specialist mental health services are available for children, adolescents, adults and older persons who have or are at risk of having a serious mental illness.

The service works in partnership with community managed organisations, primary care and other government departments to support people with severe mental illness and complex care needs to live meaningful lives in our community.

This role is designated as ‘Vaccination Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role'. You must be able to provide evidence that you either:

  •  have been vaccinated against the VPD's listed in the role description; or
  • you are not susceptible to the VPD's listed in the role description.
