Contract Type:  Fixed Term for 12 months

Hours per week:  37.5 hours

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the accredited Stroke Unit team at York Hospital.

The successful candidate will provide a nursing lead in the assessment of stroke patients in the Emergency department for thrombolysis, referral for thrombectomy, and facilitate admission to the Acute Stroke Unit. The successful applicant be a clinical lead on the ward, and be part of a multi professional team providing a 24/7 service.

The successful candidate will be supported to achieve National Stroke nursing competencies within 6 months of being in post.

The candidate will be required to work with other directorates to help facilitate patient flow. and achieve the standards set within the National Clinical guidelines for stroke.

We require a registered nurse with 2 years experience, and with knowledge of clinical audit and stroke care is desirable.

Candidates must have evidence of continuing professional development in clinical practice within the last twelve months - ideally this should include experience in an acute care setting. The candidate must have some insight into current nursing/professional issues and standards of professional practice, and must be patient focused, flexible, adaptable and capable of thinking laterally.
