The Cardiovascular Technologist I is a professional without Cath lab &/or interventional experience training to assist during diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular procedures. He/she will train to assist the physician during the procedures and operate specialized equipment in a safe and efficient manner. The CVT I is responsible for maintaining sterile technique during procedures and assisting the Cath Lab Manager in the maintenance of a safe and efficient environment dealing primarily with adults eighteen to sixty-five, and geriatric patients over the age of sixty-five.
Required Minimum Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. A graduate of an associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) is preferred. One year of relevant experience in a medical setting may be substituted in lieu of higher education. Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technician program preferred.
Required Minimum Experience : Entry level position. Work experience preferred.
Required Minimum Certification : BLS required. ACLS required within 120 days of employment.
Required Minimum Skills : Knowledge of invasive cardiac monitoring, coronary heart disease, cardiac H&P, and radiologic procedures preferred. Basic knowledge of coronary heart disease, cardiac anatomy and physiology, and radiological procedures. Ability to work within a team environment with individuals of varying abilities and responsibilities. Must be able to interact with physicians during emergencies and assist them with interpretation of data collected. Able to handle emergency/stressful situations. Must have good communication skills.
