Path Links invites applications for the post of Locum Consultant Cellular Pathologist to support our established team of Consultants based at Lincoln County Hospital. This fixed term post attracts 10PAs, candidates wishing to work part time will be considered.

Path Links is a single managed NHS clinical pathology network operating across Lincolnshire. It was formed in 2001 from the amalgamation of NHS pathology services in Boston, Grantham, Grimsby, Lincoln and Scunthorpe, serving a population of approximately 1.2 million. The Path Links Cellular Pathology Department is a team of sixteen consultants based at Lincoln County Hospital

The department receives a broad range of general pathology samples, the appointee will be able to choose specialist interests to complement the existing team. There is a daily multi-headed microscope session to review difficult/interesting cases. Workload is delivered via a pull system and would be tailored to experience. Multidisciplinary team meetings are supported on five hospital sites, some via videoconference links. The new appointee may wish to choose a mentor from our supportive team of colleagues, if this is their first consultant post. Autopsy services are conducted on two sites (Lincoln and Grimsby). Participation in the autopsy rota (mainly Coronial, on a time shift basis) is welcomed but not essential.

Path Links have invested in Digital Pathology and have adopted whole slide digital imaging (WSI) for clinical reporting. This has broad ranging capabilities for new and flexible ways of working.

Applicants must hold FRCPath (or equivalent) and have specialist registration with the GMC or be within six months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.

Applications from candidates who require Tier 2 sponsorship undertake employment in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, under UK Visas & Immigration regulations non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the Trust will be unable to satisfy the resident labour market test.
