We have an exciting opportunity for a Plaster Technician to join our team at Scarborough Hospital.

This is a busy department and we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team to provide our patients with a high quality, caring service. The post holder will help to deliver casting services and support the fracture clinics at York Teaching Hospital.

Key duties include:

  • Application of a range of casts
  • Providing advice to patients relating to the care of cast
  • Measuring and providing walking aids and splints
  • Fitting and supply of aircast boots

You will also work on the wards when patients are unable to attend the plaster room. The role will also provide occasional plastering support to theatres. You will be involved in teaching casting techniques to all levels of staff, mentoring students and maintaining high standards of care.

An up to date British Casting Certificate and registration with the BOA are essential. Ideally you will have at least one year post qualifying experience. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work within a team and on your own initiative. The post will involve cross site working and the ability to travel to different sites within the Trust is essential. You will need to be hard working, with a compassionate and caring personality, enjoy working with people and want to make a difference to the patient’s journey with us.
