An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Administrator to join our Maternity team at University Hospital Southampton NHS (Foundation Trust). We are looking for a dedicated and flexible individual to join our established diverse team.  Your key qualities will include a willingness to provide administrative support to the clinical team and to undertake reception and general administration duties in our Maternity ward areas.  You will be a team player, embrace fresh ideas, engage with change positively and be flexible with working patterns to suit the service needs. This post is based at Princess Anne Hospital and is for 15 hours per week.

Maternity Services at University Hospital Southampton

We host tertiary Maternal, Fetal and Neonatal Medicine which alongside our normalising birth and reducing health inequalities strategy you can be sure of a wide ranging challenging experience.

All shifts are flexibly rostered and allocated to cover the service 7 days a week including weekends, late evenings and bank holidays.  This is to ensure a fair allocation of shifts to all the team for a good home/work life balance and to provide an efficient service of support.

Guide to rostered shift times

7.00 am                 -               3.00 pm

7.00 am                 -               5.00 pm

12.30 pm               -               8.30 pm

4.30 pm                 -               2.00 am

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • You will work as part of a team of 15 administrators
  • You will be responsible for providing clerical support to the clinical team
  • You will undertake reception and general administration duties

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a supportive, caring and empathetic approach to women and families accessing our service.  It is essential that you are keen to promote a positive image of Southampton’s Maternity Services and provide excellent customer service with a ‘can do’ attitude.

Familiarity with Microsoft systems is a must and knowledge of NHS systems is desirable, although full training and development will be available for the successful candidate.

Southampton Maternity Services is a busy environment and proven experience in a fast paced customer focused role with previous ‘front of house’ experience is essential.

Getting to Work

Application can be made for parking on site at UHS or through one of the park and ride schemes.  This will be based on specific criteria to determine eligibility for site parking as this can be very limited.  UHS encourages staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible.   UHS is well connected through bus services to the city centre and other areas.
