NHS Highland are seeking a talented Deputy Director of Finance to join a highly motivated team who are embarking on financial recovery and the transformation of our services and our culture.
NHS Highland covers 40% of the land mass of Scotland, has a budget of over £800m and employs over 10,000 staff.
NHS Highland is a fully integrated health and care system, with the ground-breaking Lead Agency model of the Highland Health and Social Care Partnership, created in 2012 as well as an Integrated Joint Board overseeing the Health & Social Care Partnership model in Argyll & Bute.
NHS Highland was escalated to Level 4 of the Scottish Government's performance management framework in late 2018 as a result of concerns about its ability to deliver a balanced financial position.
You will be a highly accomplished leader and finance specialist with a track record of delivery in financial and business performance management and with experience of planning and delivering large-scale transformation and change. You will be a qualified accountant registered with a recognised CCAB chartered professional body but most importantly you will demonstrate outstanding financial and commercial knowledge in an organisation of significant scale and complexity. Given NHS Highland's current financial position you will ideally have had exposure to organisations in financial difficulty and ideally will have some experience in leading financial turnaround activities in the NHS or elsewhere.
The successful candidate will provide a high standard of personal and professional leadership, be experienced in leading large teams and will have the emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills to engage a widely varied workforce behind a common purpose. You will be a positive role model for NHS Scotland values of Dignity & Respect, Care & Compassion, Openness, Honesty and Responsibility and Quality & Teamwork, and will be committed to supporting the delivery of high quality person-centred care.
