The Strategic Planning Group (“SPG”) at American Express works as a partner for our business unit clients and for Amex by informing, resolving, and driving execution of the most critical strategic initiatives
With a focus on digitization, innovation, and analytics, the Enterprise Digital Analytics (EDA) team creates central, scalable platforms and customer experiences to help markets across all of these priorities. Charter is to drive scale for the business and accelerate innovation for both immediate impact as well as long-term transformation of our business. A unique aspect of EDA is the integration of diverse skills across all its remit. EDA has a very broad range of responsibilities, resulting in a broad range of initiatives around the world.
Purpose of the Role:
A role partnering with SPG within EDA at American Express offers the unique opportunity to work across key business lines with the top strategic minds in the company. Team members in SPG and EDA are continuously learning due to the incredible breadth and depth of our high impact project assignments. American Express hires individuals into SPG to work on critical challenges and innovative opportunities for the company. In SPG team members gain exposure to numerous business units and have the chance to develop their core consulting and leadership skills through their project work. Beyond SPG, team members take on new roles in various American Express business units across the globe. SPG Leadership provides team members with mentorship to help each individual find the right next role in American Express.
•Perform analysis and research to develop insights and solutions to tackle the most critical strategic priorities
•End-to-end delivery of projects from problem structuring to presentation
•Cross-collaboration across organization especially EDA to generate insights based on Amex and external data sources
Critical Factors to Success:
- Translate unstructured requests into analytical strategies and convert the available information into actionable insights
• Prior experience with strategy consulting companies will be a plus.
Top tier MBA or Masters in Economics/Statistics background.
•Demonstrable strong analytical aptitude and ability to analyse data to come up with meaningful insights and make informed business decisions.
•Strong project management skills; organized, detail-oriented individual with the ability to manage through unstructured situations.
•Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to collaborate and be a team player
•Strong professional presence; effective communication and presentation skills
- Advanced level used for Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with SAS / SQL
Knowledge of Platforms:
- Experience working on Python/C/HTML
