This role reports to the Strategy Programme Manager, GBM Technology. As part of the global Stakeholder Engagement team, the role holder is accountable for developing and delivering engagement activity for GBM Technology (locally and globally), a highly specialized technology team, supporting and enabling HSBC’s Investment Bank, with c6500 employees globally.


GBM exists to help clients make the most of opportunities for companies and financial institutions worldwide; leveraging new ideas, capital flows and trade routes. Technology is fundamental to GBM’s strategy, by driving down costs, solving complex business problems, enhancing the client experience, building new products and enhancing sales and distribution platforms.


Role Purpose:

Based in Pune, where our Global Development Centre has c2400 employees, the Stakeholder Engagement Manager is responsible for managing and executing engagement activity


The role holder will build strong collaborative relationships with the Centre Head of GBM Tech India (Head), their Management Team (MT) and Global stakeholders – primarily the CIO, Head of Strategy and the Strategy Programme Manager

The role holder will be part of the India Management team.



This role develops and delivers engagement programs regionally that:

·        Drive employee awareness, understanding and engagement with the global priorities for GBM Technology
Connects the function locally and as a global community

·        Encourages visible leadership and dialogue


·        Builds awareness of the GBM Tech India proposition within the Bank and externally so as to support both recruitment and retention activities

·        Enables employees to discuss, challenge and contribute ideas

·        Supports the function’s people and recognition agenda

Key activities and decision making areas:

·        Provides broad engagement and project related support to the Head and their MT

·        Connects employees in the region and with GBM Technology globally by providing key messages delivered consistently through appropriate programmes and channels

·        Creates compelling content and messages to engage stakeholders/employees about the progress and priorities of GBM Technology, aligned to our purpose, strategy and values


·        Raise GBM Tech India profile within the Bank and externally in the local market to support recruitment and retention activities. This involves developing and articulating the story, vision and proposition. It also involves working with the Head,  MT and Communications Team to execute an ongoing Social media campaign

·        Develops and where required, leads execution of GBM Technology campaigns and projects that support HSBC themes, in collaboration with relevant teams and other global, regional and in-country colleagues

·        Drives and supports Pune Connected engagement weeks, senior management visits and supports engagement associated with Annual events and townhalls

·        Leads on Global GBM IT campaigns as required


·        Supports HSBC and GBM Tech People Proposition including activity that supports Diversity & Inclusion, Innovation, CSR, Learning & Development


Key audiences / Stakeholders:

·        GBM Head for India and their MT

·        GBM Technology employees (locally and globally)

·        CIO, Head of Strategy and Strategy Programme Manager (FM).


·        Head of Communications, India Tech


Mandatory Skills / Experience:

·        8 -10 years of experience in Corporate Engagement, full stack communications and Stakeholder Management

·        Excellent interpersonal skills; strong relationship management capabilities

·        Strong leadership skills, team-builder and influencer

·        Impeccable written, verbal and presentation skills

·        Exposure to investment banking and/or technology

·        Exposure and success working within a global matrix organization model

·        Proven track record in developing, managing and implementing effective stakeholder management strategies

·        Ability to contribute to the overall response to key campaigns, projects and issues

·        Experience managing a range of stakeholder relationships by matrix and virtually

·        Gravitas and ability to interact with and advise senior executives

·        Ability to understand business issues and devise solutions that deliver results, constructing fresh approaches where appropriate and making connections to other issues

·        Able to work within an ambiguous environment, prioritize and reconcile competing demands and resolve complex issues
