Primary Site: Travois and Park Place Long Term Care sites in Calgary.

Other Sites of Clinical Activity: Glamorgn Care Centre, Mayfair Care Centre, Newport Harbour, and Multi-Generational Housing

The Site Leader Medical (SLM) will be responsible to the Department of Family Medicine through the Medical Leader for Facility Living for the administration of site medical staff, and for the implementation of AHS Calgary Zone policies and guidelines as deemed appropriate by the Medical Leader for Facility Living.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Be responsible for the assessment of medical needs and for the evaluation of the quality of medical services at assigned sites.
  • Ensure medical staff have and maintain the necessary training and experience pertinent to the practice of Continuing Care.
  • Supervise the medical staff and ensure that physicians adhere to Continuing Care physician expectations or rules and regulations that govern medical practice.
  • Assist in the physician performance review process for the attending medical staff.
  • Apply the LTC physicians service guidelines in enforcing minimum expectations for physician clinical practice in assigned sites.
  • Support staff regarding physician non-compliance in a timely manner.
  • Promote the highest medical service standards.
  • Provide the Medical Leader for Facility Living with a monthly activity report at the end of each month that includes physician and clinical issues, and brief committee reports and site specific information.
  • Attend monthly SLM meetings

This position is a 0.1FTE


· Be licensed to practice in the Province of Alberta and be in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta;

· Have required AHS Medical Staff privileges granted by the Department of Family Medicine to practice in the Long Term Care Centre,

· Preference will be given to candidates with at least five years clinical experience and current practice in a Calgary Long Term Care setting.

· Enhanced skills training in Care of the Elderly Medicine is desirable

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure wiht teh College o fPhysicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Must read, write and speak English.
