Technical Lead - Mobile Platform

Our Client is a different kind of investment manager. Since 2001, we have used data science and technology to derive insights that forecast the future and discover value in markets worldwide. Our team of scientists, technologists and academics looks beyond traditional finance to understand the bigger picture and develop creative solutions to some of the world’s most difficult economic problems. Our work spans markets and industries, from insurance and securities to private investments and new ventures.

The Mobile Platform Engineering team is responsible for the platform to enable the end-to-end delivery of mobile applications - whether native or on a mobile browser, with a key focus on security, performance and usability.  These applications bring the promise of increased productivity, improved velocity of communication, and empowerment of employees to work flexibly.  Our goal is to make mobile computing increasingly ubiquitous, focusing on the convenience of allowing employees to use their own personal mobile devices to access certain company services.  The team will be staffed with full-stack mobile engineers experienced in systems, architecture, engineering, security, network, and development/scripting disciplines.  As such, we are looking for candidates who share a passion for tackling complexity and building platforms that can scale as we continue to grow globally.

The team is looking for a full-stack, lead mobility engineer to deliver the vision and architecture for a next generation mobility platform that conforms to key design tenets, including security, performance and UX.  As the lead mobility engineer, you will be well versed with the enterprise mobility management market landscape, while keeping a close pulse on key mobile OS developments from Apple, Google and others.  You will be responsible for evangelizing the platform to internal application owners while providing guidance on how to develop mobile-friendly and performant apps, such as by sharing best practices on mobile software development frameworks that leverage modern authentication and standardized cascading style sheet templates.

You will take on the following responsibilities:

  •  Familiarize yourself with our existing MDM platform and cross-platform dependencies
  • Drive towards a unified architecture vision for our mobile platform to meet business and product goals.  Deliver mobile platform roadmap.
  • Identify areas ripe for automation, including cross-platform testing, penetration testing, monitoring and alerting, streamlined application onboarding, etc.
  • Develop a plan for onboarding internal and external native applications onto the platform
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in mobile operating system architecture, inherent security controls, and risks present, specifically for iOS and Android
  • Keep a pulse on new product and technology developments in the mobile space (OS vendors, MDM and MAM vendors, BYOD etc.)
  • Enumerate requirements for a new mobile platform (perform features and security gap analysis)
  • Own the evaluation of forward looking Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM) solutions
  • Deliver recommendation and design for turnkey mobile/MDM platform to support all of the businesses
  • Create technical artifacts such as architecture views, technology architecture blueprints and design specifications of new platform
  • Oversee implementation of new offering

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Technical Lead/Architect in the mobility domain
  • Broad level skill set in designing solutions including mobile, web, integration middleware, database, front-end technology & framework and security
  • Scripting and automation experience using primarily Python or PowerShell
  • Proven track record of full lifecycle product development and delivery
  • Ability to analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources
  • Expertise in enterprise mobility architecture, with prior experience designing and implementing MDM and MAM platforms desirable (such as Blackberry Dynamics, MobileIron, AirWatch, Google MDM)
  • A deep understanding of the security and privacy implications, as well as network dependencies of MDM and MAM technologies.  Ability to apply that knowledge when designing, deploying and troubleshooting EMM platforms and applications.
  • Expertise in mobile security that includes an in-depth knowledge of mobile platform risks, management controls, and application security (including AppConfig and App Wrapping)

You will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Core Benefits: Fully paid medical and dental insurance premiums for employees and dependents, 401k match, employer-paid life & disability insurance
  • Perks: Onsite gyms with laundry service, wellness activities, casual dress, snacks, game rooms
